Projects

The opportunity, which a project presents, requires a diverse set of skills including robust management expertise to ensure successful implementation.

Opportunity Management delivers this.

Our strength builds on 25 years of making things happen, implementing, and delivering, which has resulted in:

  • the development of new companies, departments, and organisations
  • the delivery of a multitude of projects on time and to budget
  • the organisation and structuring of what was previsously un-organisable
  • facilitation at numerous meetings
  • market research
  • ...and the odd successful organisation of a rock-concert.

Opportunity Management ensures the combination of skills that lead to success are available, as these examples demonstrates:

Customer Service and Facilitation
The client wanted to test and validate a number of hypotheses relating to the future delivery of service as a driver of product differentiation. Having carried out significant research into the delivery of outstanding customer service in both the UK and North America, Lone Hummelshoj proposed a unique consultancy offering where she put together a programme to visit organisations in the United States, who successfully had structured their businesses around service delivery. She facilitated all meetings with senior executives and produced a comprehensive report analysing the input and recommending the way forward for the client to implement their strategic vision. The client commented: "I am now an enthusiastic supporter of your programme and you can count on me to support it across our industry. It is a great idea delivered with great skill".

Business Development and Strategic Marketing
On behalf of a major pharmaceutical company, we developed an Internet feasibility and strategic marketing initiative report and oversaw the two-year implementation.

Business Development
This budding enterprise used our skills to obtain press coverage in most of the UK's daily newspapers and weekly women's magazines. We played a significant role in increasing the company's value from £20,000 to £1.5M in just over a year, when it obtained venture capital. As the company grew, Opportunity Management went on to manage human resources, including all aspects of recruitment, contract development and negotiation, health and safety, and created staff procedures, as well as an employees’ handbook.

Coordination and Facilitation
For four years, Lone Hummelshoj coordinated the pan-European working group on "best practice within the health care sector" for an international NGO, including outreach and awareness. She coordinated all media relations and press releases for the coalition, and organised and managed three study tours to promote environmentally healthy hospitals in Scandinavia and the UK. Lone Hummelshoj project managed several multi-national projects, including integration of technical input, and co-organised and facilitated four pan-European workshops in Germany, Czechia (twice), and France.

Business Development and Project Management
Opportunity Management managed the re-design of EndometriosisZone.org, integrated current data and added significant new content/links for its re-launch in October 2002. We established and enhanced the editorial advisory board, and developed unique content through interviews with key opinion leaders and provided congress coverage from six continents. Under our management registered users grew to 27,000 in less than two years with 175,000+ page views/month.

Selling and Project Management of Client Business Restructuring
The client needed to restructure its investment and trustee business in order to make significant operating savings. It was crucial that a high quality solution was delivered on time and to budget. Using her thorough understanding of the client's business challenges, Lone Hummelshoj managed a team of technicians and project managers to construct an innovative financial and technical solution comprising hardware, software and the supporting infrastructure, as well as the technical expertise from several suppliers. Fighting a fierce campaign against competitive companies, Lone secured the business in a territory which was previously uncharted. The success of the £4.5 million project, which was delivered on time and to budget, was the result of Lone's patient building of relationships within the client, as well as her ability to manage internal and external resources effectively.

Workshop Development and Facilitation
Opportunity Management has developed a workshop, with supporting documentation, on how to deal with the media. This has been successfully delivered and facilitated by Lone Hummelshoj twice. Furthermore, she regularly facilitates meetings in the voluntary sector, as well as sessions at scientific meetings.

Events Managment
On behalf of the client Lone Hummelshoj organised and managed all aspects of a highly profitable and successful rock concert in London with Denmark's top band, Shu-Bi-Dua. The assignment included PR, hire of equipment, venue search and negotiation, co-ordination of ticket sales, VIP entertainment, sponsorship, insurance, and budgetary control.

Organisation of Voluntary Resources
Lone Hummelshoj co-founded the Danish Endometriosis Society in 1997, and went on to chair it for seven years. During this time she was instrumental in the implementation of national guidelines for the treatment of endometriosis (the only country in the world to have these). She also produced 34 newsletters, managed four national information campaigns (with appropriate marketing collateral and serious media attention), and co-organised, co-chaired, and presented at nine national meetings.
